FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the questions people commonly ask about hypnotherapy sessions in Weston-super-Mare with Helen Rogers Hypnotherapy.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention and relaxation, similar to becoming absorbed in a book, film or daydream. Most people describe it as feeling calm, relaxed and mentally settled.

Will I lose control?

No. You remain aware and in control throughout. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process and you cannot be made to do anything against your wishes.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Everyone experiences hypnosis slightly differently, but most people feel physically relaxed and mentally calmer. Some people feel deeply relaxed, while others simply feel very focused and comfortable.

Can everyone be hypnotised?

Most people can experience hypnosis if they are willing to engage with the process. You do not need to feel deeply hypnotised for hypnotherapy to be effective.

What happens during sessions?

Sessions combine talking therapy, coaching techniques and hypnosis. We focus on helping you move forwards rather than endlessly analysing problems.

We’ll discuss progress, identify helpful changes and work towards the goals you want to achieve.

What happens at the initial consultation?

The initial consultation gives us a chance to discuss what you would like help with, how therapy may help and what approach is likely to work best for you.

I’ll also explain how stress, anxiety and habits affect the brain and body, and answer any questions you may have.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the issue and the individual. Some people notice change quite quickly, while others benefit from longer-term support. I will always aim to help you make progress as efficiently as possible.

Do you work with teenagers?

I may work with older teenagers and young adults depending on the issue involved. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss suitability before booking.

Will I get stuck in hypnosis?

No — that cannot happen. Hypnosis is a natural state and you can return to full awareness at any time.

Do you offer solution focused therapy?

Yes. My approach is solution focused, meaning we spend more time helping you move towards where you want to be rather than repeatedly revisiting problems from the past.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. All sessions are confidential unless there is a legal or safeguarding reason requiring disclosure.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange appointments. Missed appointments or late cancellations may be charged at the full session fee.
